Why would a horse have it's front feet denerved?

I have just seen an add for a horse with denerved feet and don't know what it means.

Common reason is navicular/heel pain where denerving the feet offers the only chance of the horse coming sound. Not saying that's what it is, it may be something else, but that is one reason. Basically the nerves supplying the painful part of the feet are cut, which means that the horse cannot now feel any sort of pain in the foot. Therefore, puncture wounds could go unnoticed unless the onwer is very vigilant, as the horse will not show lameness so infections can develop with no signs.

Thank you for the info.

I wasn't going to buy the horse just very very curious.

Trying to learn all I can before I start looking for a horse next year.

It seems to be a bit of a minefield out there.

Is it the black gelding om horsemart by any chance? I had to look twice such a stunning horse, but I have to agree not sure I would want to take it on, surely denerved horses could do themselves an injury and not feel it?

Yes it was. Stunning looking horse.

Thats what I thought I would constantly be afraid he would hurt himself and not feel it.
