hey guys have a 3/4 TB x WB her feet have started to crack slightly almost and seem quite soft, is there anything anyone can recommend wether its what to put on them or in her feed or whatever? thanks :)

i was told to put 'pig oil' onto my boys feet by my farrier, his feet crack if im not careful, it seems to work. could the softness be because of the wet weather? what turnout does he get? :)

For a start - micronised linseed http://www.charnwood-milling.co.uk/mail-order/Horse_Food.html#a55

As well as containing omega 3 and 6 in the same ratio as grass, it is a polar lipid - so it keeps in moisture and repels excess water to the hoof and provides a health wall.

No lotions or potions are needed - other than water, and they will get enough of that in the field (even in the driest summer, horses that are out overnight will be standing in morning dew for at least an hour....better than we could do by hand ;)).

If you need a supplement other than linseed (if her hoof wall is poor quality or crumbly) then there are two mineral supplements I can recommend.
