Feet stamping

Hi, Advice welcome on how to stop my young horse stamping his feet while travelling in the trailer. It’s driving me mad. He’s not anxious or worried about travelling, he loads ok and doesn’t move around. I think it’s just impatience. He will do the same in the stable whenever he can too!

Feather mites maybe? They are extremely itchy.

Does he do it if he's got company/hay? Obviously hay is easier to provide than a companion, but having a distraction might help him settle down?
Some settle best if you move off as soon as you're loaded- my youngster settles down once moving, but can be a bit fractious if left to stand for a few minutes after loading.

Sounds like leg mites if he does it in the stable as well.

If he only does it in the trailer it’s most likely not mites but if he does it more often it maybe mites

The little midges have come out in full force and are everywhere and driving mine nuts
