This was my horse's first 'party' for about a month as he has had some time off for a sore back so we entered the intro class in preparation for Firle BE next weekend.
We were running a bit late (as usual!!) so I would have liked a bit more time to warm-up for the dressage but he went in to do a respectable test and finish with 34.5 and remarks such as obedient and rhythmical paces so I was reasonably pleased.
We then went to warm-up for the showjumping after I had walked the course and ummed and aahed a bit over the height but the course looked as though it would flow nicely. He warmed up really well, I let him jump a bit xc-style for the first few fences to get him going forward then collected him up and he really took on the fences, was lovely to feel him lock on and go! So off we went into the ring and he napped a bit after the first fence but nothing unusual there then he got going albeit a little uncontrollably but was unfortunate to have the second-last fence down (the first part of a double) as we just got too close to the fence.
Am really chuffed with him, we weren't placed but finished on 38.5 and he was definately feeling up for it which puts my mind at rest after his back problems.
Only thing is the photographer told me there would be some lovely photos of him but can't quite remember what website she said they were on, it sounded like www.jumpoffphotos.com but that site is still under construction??
Sorry for the long post but i'm really happy that we are back on track and still have some time left for a few more events this season!
