Fell in trailer ?

We had a fabulous day got placed 6th and she was soo good.. and on the way home there was banging in the trailer, which is unlike her. So i pulled up to see if she was ok. she was fine. got back in drove off. must of got maybe 600yrds and i heard i huge thud. pulled straight up and she had fallen in the box .. i well and truely [****] myself and freaked out ... luckly my hardy cob was unharmed. *thank god* i walk her back to the yard, only a mile or so away. BUT why did she fall ... she travel perfect ... it was no different then usual ? the only thing i can think of is the floor was a tad wet and so was she .... any advice is much needed for a stressing mummy.
 
I had a similar experience last weekend. About half way of the journey to the venue as I rounded a corner, the trailer juddered and my mare made a lot of banging. I stopped, checked and couldn't see what was wrong so carried on slowly. Next corner same thing, and poor mare nearly went down. She was in a terrible state, pulled off a shoe and cut her leg. I just didn't know what to do but as I was now quite close to the venue I crept along ridiculously slowly. A couple of men checked my trailer and one of the wheels was boiling hot and we think the brake jammed on causing the corner problems.

Might be worth having your trailer checked.

Would also be worth having horse's back checked as she is likely to have done some damage having come down in the trailer.
 
Ditto checking trailer! Also, do you put straw/shavings down to helo her grip (even though you have rubber matting?) Glad to hear she is Ok!!
 
Glad she is ok, its always a big worry of mine, i have been better since i got a cctv kit last year so now i can watch her and make sure she is ok. It does give you a bit of piece of mind to just see her in the monitor. She used to be a bad traveller i stopped using boots and took out the partition and cross tie her and just use a breast bar since then she has been fine. Good luck hope your next journey goes smoothly.
 
Ive had this twice I had to take out the partition in the end and put breast bars in, mine were fine the first 6 months and then started doing this some mares like to spread legs at back, but this dosn't realy help if you are travelling two horses. Is your trailer an Ifor by any chance as these trailers do have this problem !!
 
Ditto the comment about putting some shavings down. I've got a new trailer with rubber flooring and was amazed how slippy it is with just a bit of damp, so I always put a couple of shovels of shavings down to make sure any wet from pee and poo is soaked up. Poor you, think I would be very stressed by this too!
