Lol, as title.
I haven't fallen off since I was 16 (am now 22)
Took G to do some XC today (not a comp, just hired out a course, my first time ever doing it) and I had such a fun day, it really was so much fun. When we got there we walked around the course to see what it was like and I then started getting really nervous as the jumps, although the ones we were gonna jump were no higher than about 2', 2'3 at the most they seem so much higher than that height at showjumps and the thought of them not falling down if you hit them scared me.
G's owner got on first and took him round so I could see what he was like etc and he was so so good, went round them all jumping them no problem, apart from the ditches (which he hates and kept stopping or running out!) and water jumps as he doesn't like water.
Then it was my turn and I did all the smaller ones stopping after every 3 or so jumps so I could get my barings, prepare for next lot of jumps and let his owner catch up, then I did all the small ones again without stopping, the whole course, there's about 26 jumps. Then I went round on my final go and got a bit brave and decided to attempt a couple of the bigger ones lol, all was going great until we came to a stile, we jumped the first part, then there's a ditch almost straight after which he swerved to avoid, and straight after the ditch there's another stile, as he swerved at the ditch I had to make a really tight turn to the right to get him in line to jump the next bit of the stile thing. So I made the turn and thought all was ok, we were approaching the jump then as we literally got to it I realised that we were at totally the wrong angle to jump it, he realised too as he stopped and swerved at the same time, causing me to go out of the side door and over the actual jump, where I cracked my head off the flag post thing and then I landed flat out on my back and my head cracked off the ground again and my neck really hurt. I was in such shock lol I lay there for a couple of seconds, then got up and I was ok, head bit sore but nothnig else, so I got back on and finished the course and it was brilliant.
I had the best day and can't wait for the hunter trials now
I'm so glad I can say i've finally done XC and at now I know at least that it isn't actually that scary!
