Well on Friday night I was supposed to have a lesson but decided to rescedule due to wind that almost blew me away when I arrived at the yard, plus Ryu had been in 3 days because of the storms, and it all seemed a bit dicey. Anyway Saturday morning was still and bright and I'd arranged for a 8.30 lesson so I could get home and on with some paperwork.
Anyhow the night before in one of my magazines I'd read about a competition to win a lesson with carl hester, they were giving preferance to a young horse and you also won saracen horse feed -wow. You had to send off a clear photo of you riding on the flat. So there I was on Saturday morning in a colour co-ordinated outfit even some mascara, putting matching bandages on an unimpressed Ryu, all ready for our photo session. My instructor arrived and thought it was hilarious, so on I got and off we went round to the outdoor school, ready to do our posing.
Cue spooky Ryu, killer pheasant, blur of Rushing through arena gate, banged leg, scream, bronking Ryu, me on the deck. Oh my god I thought my leg had been severed off at the knee! Initially the pain was SO evil I thought I was going to pass out! A quick response unit and ambulance arrived and I went to hospital. My knee ballooned but luckily Xray found no break just awful bruising, could hardly walk Saturday, Mum had to help me do Ryu Sunday morning, but better today managed to drive.
We didn't get a single photo but hopefully will do a 'reshoot' this weekend (if I can get my boots on)- do you think if I include a photo of my bashed leg Carl might pick us as the winners???
