We were trotting around quite happily, she spooked at something, (i think an ant may have sneazed

!) Shot me off sideways, braced myself for impact.........and nothing!
You know when you sort of do a falling dismount with your foot coming out the stirrup at the last minute, well i think thats what happened, but somehow got myself back in the saddle before she pissed off across the school, god knows how though as i was well out the side door and had a great view of the ground! Bless her i dont know who was more shocked that i was still there! I wish i could fall off like that every time, would save a lot of trips u the hospital, anyone else managed this, or am i special!?

Hmmm, she's fat you say? Maybe it was a virtual impossibility TO fall off ?

My most bizarre "almost off" was a couple of years ago on my mare. We were hacking as a group and we got to a great steep hill in the woods that was fab for cantering. It had rained a bit previously so without realising part of the path had washed away, we set off for a wee blast in this remote area. I was at the front and my girl tanked as she does - and when we got to the washed out bit, the ground just suddenly wasn't there any more. She lost her footing and fell to her knees - and suddenly I was flying- no hands-- no feet --no BUM -- nothing but AIR. It happened too quick to be scared but there was a fleeting thought of "OH SH!T" as there were 2 more horses galloping up behind me.

The very next split second later, my mare got to her feet, collected me from mid air, and I somehow managed to stay on while she scrambled us both out of harm's way!

However, she recently deposited me while I was running thru a dressage test. "A" fluttered off the wall at the far end of the arena while we stood chatting to someone. She went left, I landed right...and amazingly, on my feet. That was the first time in 4 years of having her that I came off her.

I was riding my YO's horse out hacking when we came across a bunch of fishermen. One of them cast out as I got level and the horse disappeared from underneath me sending me up to his ears.I was just thinking ' Oh S***' when he span and bolted depositing me back in the saddle. The other 2 riders out with me yelled Well sat lol.Not sure I could quite call it that though. Sadly a few weeks after that ride the YO's horse died of peritonitis. So sad as He only got to ride him a few times himself so never managed to get the opportunity to see if he could sit to his spooks lol.

I've done this a few times - happens quite often on big horses as there's so much of them

My mare spooked and stopped dead from a canter out hacking, sending me flying forwards. She then turned round on her back legs (her party trick

) and shot off towards home, chucking me back into the saddle (minus stirrups and reins by this point!) as she went.

Another time she was having issues the first time I ever asked her to jump over tyres, she stopped and cat leaped, landing awkwardly with her head low, and me hanging off the side of her neck. She chucked her head back up and for a second I was airbourne again, before landing neatly back in the saddle. I'm told that one was quite impressive to watch!
