Do you ever try on breeches that go past your ankles?

I really want a nice pair of breeches that actually fit but at 5ft breeches tend to be way too long on me :(

Are there any other horse stuff you wish you could have but can't because of size?

The only positive is that I still buy childrens clothes which is a lot cheaper :D

I'm 5' 2" with stumpy short legs! I've got some breeches from Derby House which fit nicely, so give them a go :)

I have real trouble with long boots and chaps as I've got short, narrow legs. All the 'short' versions of long boots only come in reg or wide, not narrow. Bummer!

I'm about 5' 2", I just fasten the breeches around my ankles so they are effectively turned into johds ;) As for johds, I have been known to attack the bottoms with scissors - resulting in a very embarassing trip to A & E where I had my boots cut off to reveal raggy bottomed johds and unshaved hairy legs. :o

One of these days I will open a clothing line for short riders! :)

Yes I normally turn breeches into johds and I never attempt to wear johds unless its the kids ones. The kadence childrens johds are brilliant ;)

I have also recently discovered that I am quite at home on a 13.2 pony!

Edited to add - wearing High Line Outfitters breeches in the pic...super dooper comfy!

Lol at this /\/\ :D

Me! I'm 5'1 and have yet to find a pair of johds to fit me nicely. I don't often look at breeches i have to say. Maybe i should. Not that i often have any money to buy new clothes, riding or otherwise, but i wear childrens jods at the moment. They tend to be a little tight on my thighs though and are either too skinny for my muscly legs or two short. I also cannot find a pair of half chaps to fit me anywhere!!!!! Even a large childs is too long and a medium childs is too tight on my calves/ ankles and i keep breaking the poppers. Which then renders them as useful as ankle warmers as the zips work their way up and thus chaps work their way down. I've been riding in wellies for months now because my third pair of chaps in 18 months have broken and i also struggle with finding 'long' boots which don't jab me in the back of the knee when riding.

It really is frustrating. Look, you've got me started now (well, you and a bottle of red :p )

Although being able to ride little ponies and whizz about is the up side i guess :)

can i join in at 6 foot?? my jods always end up half way up my shin and im sure if the need ever arised for breeches they would look like shorts :/ i feel your pain though of clothes not fitting...... but please spare a need for tall people next time you are trimming off your jods, us tall people can only dream of such things :p

Ditto! hehehe :)

I feel very sorry for you because not only can you not get clothes to fit, you can't do this on a 12hh pony...

Count me in! 5"1 2 at a push! I have kids jods but a few pairs of breeches that fit lovely....some from eBay shop neddys, and some second hand cavallo. Just bought some ariat long boots which I thought I could never wear due to height but they are a great fit in a size 4 and actually don't rub behind the knee!
Fun bit is im small enough to bring a 13'2 back into work as she's had a foal, and she is soo cute!:D

Spanish riding boots... Valverde boots, 40cm height. Stylish and a good fit.

40 cm from the heel? Hrm, a 30cm chap is just about an ok fit and i'm dubious as i don't think there's an extra 10cm from ground to ankle. (certainly not mine!) I already have about 3 pairs of boots in their boxes which i've bought as a 'bargain' and then don't actually fit me comfortably.

I am 5'2'' and some jods are a bit long. Lots of good things about being short though. You can ride most height horses and ponies. I found a Harry Hall age 12 jacket in a charity shop and it fits me perfectly! Would rather be short.

agree with this! DH breeches are brill for shortarses like us! got a pair of 26s and they're perfect lengthwise!

I'm afraid I'm in the same boat as Sov-n-Dom. Too short for adult jods, too fat for kids. Breeches don't seem to come in economy models (at least not local to me) so I have to look out for sale breeches & wear done up round the ankles.

I'm tall, but find ariat the worst for me in terms of length, so they might suit the shorter person? The breeches come well up my legs and I have to pull the hems down to keep them below my calf - nice look! Hope valley saddlery often have some at ace prices.

Also, you can get gorgeous kids pikeur and cavallo ones at incredible prices. Have seen them on ebay and amira but sure they'll be more places out there. They do the proper styles with full seat etc so you don't have to make do with less fancy ones.

V jealous of you pony squishers!!! Wish I could still ride a pony without roller scates!

I'm a 5ft 4 pony squisher (teehee) who wears breeches as jods :D I still wear jumpers from when I was 13 or so and they fit (hurrah). I have some kids coats, one pair of childrens jods and I love it :D I have size 3 feet too so shoes and boots are a bargain as well! Gap kids and M&S boys is my other hunting ground for rugby shirts and polo shirts :)

It would be nice to ride a chunky 16.3 and not look like it was too big or not have to ask random people in the supermarket to get things down off shelves, but there are too many plusses for being ickle-ish :D
