Fence Posts Chewed, Not by Horses. Any Ideas?

Over the past few weeks my wooden fence posts have been chewed and the horses aren't in that field. They have been chewed in various places from ground level up to height of about 2.5-3 feet. Some patches of chewed bits just about 4 inch area, other bits about 8 inches and quite deep, not just a surface scratch. Does anybody have any idea what might be doing it? Thank you.

Deer! I was blaming Puzzle like mad but it was a combination of her, deer, and her field mate!

Go & get creosote (or the similar version of preservative) mix in 25% old engine oil to the creosote & paintbrush it on all the fencing. Job done.

(and most fuzzy's dont like that either!)
