we have put up some stock fencing but now find this isn't suitable for horses - we could take this down and put up purpose made horse netting - or do two layers so there wouldn't be the gaps - anybody understand all this? or we could take it down and just have sheep with electric sheep net when horses are not in the field

My field has sheep netting and although it's deemed to be dangerous, many people have it without encountering any problems. I certainly wouldn't dismantle it (unless unlimited money or it needs replacing anyway) but would minimise the risk by running electric fence tape/wire along the posts, preferably using the offset type of insulator to keep horses further away from the sheep wire fence. I've done this and it has the added benefit of reducing chewing of the tops of fence posts and stops them leaning over the wire to reach longer grass. I only switch it on now and again to let them know it's there.

Never had a problem with sheep fencing and horses. If you are concerned you could run some electric fencing along the bounty to keep the horses of the fence.

We have that were there is no hedge, never had any problems aslong as it is tight.

But then I dont think I would be so keen if I had youngsters or fence jumpers/pawers, ect, or liverys just incase somthing happened and they tried to sue me. But no probs with mine, they are sane and sensible with so much grazing they have little reason to try and stretch over fences or anything.
