Hi
Am having a real problem keeping my gelding in his field at the min, he keeps pulling the posts out to be in with the other horse next to him!!! He pulls out plastic electric fence posts and the big round wooden stakes, anyone got any ideas?? He is a friendly fella who just likes to be with other horses but unfortunately other horse owners dont appreciate his needy ways lol. He is getting hay in his field but once he's got through that looks to escape for a play. I am at work all day so dont really want to have to keep him in. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I assume that you have electric fencing. Make sure that it is properly earthed and the battery is in good shape (an electric fence tester is a very useful piece of kit).

If the fence is working properly try wrapping the tape around the top of the post so that you horse gets a shock when he tries to grab the post.

Is it possible to put another horse out with him so that he has company?

I would check your electric fencing first as it may be prematurely earthing or is not at the correct voltage. You can buy voltage testers at most good tack shops.

Get the fence line post and railed with every third post concreted in. Put Equifencing (tight knit sheep fencing) on it as well as that will prevent anyone kicking through it.

Thanks, electric ok (I think will double check) will try putting tape over the top of the posts to give him a zap! Cant put another horse with him wish I could as think thats his reason for getting out the little monkey :)
