Hiya all!

Posted a little while ago about trying to feed my boy who's a bit of a nightmare to keep weight on - thanks for all the responses on that (and thankies to Jessruledaworld!).

Anyway, since then I've been browsing the feed stores and came across fenugreek seeds. On the label it says the are a conditioning supplement and good for poor do-ers or shy feeders.

So, anyone used them, any opinions good or bad! Thanks in advance peeps! x

YO swears by them in seed or powdered form they def do seem to help with condition and muscle.

But they smell just like curry powder so I'm not sure a fussy eater would actually eat them?

I have used them on my old girl, but to be honest I don't think I saw a huge difference to her weight.

Main supplements that have made a huge change to allow her to keep weight on her are NAF pink Powder (she lives on her nerves and has bad digestion) and NAF veteran suppliment (she is 28). Along with a yearly visit by osteo.

I've not seen a rib on her this year. First time ever i've not seen a rib. She's a TB.

I used them on a horse we couldn't keep weight on, we split his feed into 3 feeds a day and added fenugreek seeds. He didn't mind the fact it smelt of curry and it definitely helped.

HH do a Linseed & Fenugreek mix which I used for the linseed. It certainly seemed to help as mine came to me in poor condition but he was on very good haylage too!
wrt smell/flavour a study last year showed that horses liked it with a group of horses preferring it to garlic and other herbs etc that are more often added to feed and that it might be good to use it to tempt fussy eaters
