Fertilized fields

Can anyone tell me if it's safe/unsafe to walk the dogs through fields that were fertilized yesterday ( nitran type pellets ) . we had very heavy rain over night which would have washed some in?

My dog ate crops that had been fertilised 2 days previously and was violently sick, constantly, for about an hour- thankfully after that she seemed to have got it out of her system and was fine, but I would always leave it a couple of weeks now- think what it would do if she hadn't thrown it all up!

I walk my dogs over newly fertislised fields but on leads ensuring they dont stop and sniff/lick/chew anything, I have never had a problem....if it was the last field before home I would wash the paws once home, if its a field in the middle of a walk I dont bother.
