So who is making the journey to Peterborough to compete or spectate at the Festival of Hunting?

I will either be holding leads (hopefully still attached to a hound) in the mink hound classes or helping in the Fitzwilliam stand so if you are braving the weather outdoors pop by and say hello!

I'm going, were in the inter hunt relay, on my coloured. What was originally sods law that we were drawn first is now a blessing, best of whatever ground! In typical form I have put my stock/pin and gloves in such a safe I now can't find them! Will try and say hello to you all.

A letter to supporters from Festival Secretary David Ralley-Davies:

You are no doubt aware of the most depressing decision the Great Yorkshire Show organisers found themselves making yesterday in cancelling their Show. Such a decision was unavoidable and our hearts go out to all those affected by the dreadful weather we are currently experiencing. The Peterborough Show ground was also hit hard by the bad weather during the recent East of England Show. However, despite this I wish to assure you the Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show and Festival of Hunting WILL take place next week. We have today agreed our contingency plan to move the Vice Presidents parking to a new area, south of the Peterborough Arena building, and will endeavour to keep all hound vehicles on hard standing.

I am personally calling the Masters of all packs entered over the next few days to advise them of the plans. The only question mark rests with the Inter Hunt Relay. If the ground is deemed too wet to guarantee the safety of competitors and horses it may, unfortunately, be cancelled. Please contact the office on Monday to confirm the position.

In the event we do have a sunny day we are attempting to provide a suitable picnic area adjoining the new Vice President’s car park. Please be patient with the stewards on the day, the usual parking arrangements will be altered to allow the show to take place. Hound judging, (apart from the Old English and Mink Hounds), will either be under cover in the Fitzwilliam Enclosure or inside the Arena building. The majority of trade stands are inside and we have superb catering facilities available.

Please continue to do your part and help hunting, and all hunt staff, in these difficult times by supporting the show and witnessing the magnificent hounds on display at the Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show and Festival of Hunting, regardless of the weather.
I look forward to seeing you next Wednesday.

Kind regards
David Ralley-Davies
Secretary

Great day at the Festival. Took home the minkhound championship and the salver for best turned out hunt staff (that battle with my hairnet in the loos was worth it!)

Hope everyone else had as much fun and success.

JumpinBeckyJane I have a few pictures of the Kimblewick bitches in the afternoon if you PM me an e-mail address I am happy to send them over.

Well done, we had a good day on the trade stand, some rosettes for our dog hounds but unforunelty not bitch hounds, and we had two teams due to run in the unfortunate abandoned junior relay team. That rain storm was manic!! I had a very long day as left house at 5.30 to meet the stand up there, got to watch a bit of the hounds and relay, but then the tradestand lorry got stuck an they had no tractors, so ended up pushing it backwards with some security guys, then by car had a flat trye on way home, but luckily I got dropped of at YF's on way home, who pumped it up, and now I'm finally in!!

Oh you should have said hello, you could have met him in the flesh. We were very lucky the weather held up as long as it did, the going in the second round felt very sticky even for oshk's feet! Shame the afternoon was called off, such a great turn out!
