Does anyone else have a horse who freaked out the first time they were confronted with a full-on, lit-up winter wonderland display? The displays seem to be getting more elaborate every year

Megan had a major napping session the first time she saw these out hacking - I think it was the moving reindeer that spooked her first, or maybe it was just all the lights overloaded her already active imagination

In fact, the first time she came in from the field to see our barn lit up nearly gave her a heart attack

She's now well used to them, especially as our YO makes a big effort with the displays in her windows, so this year's hacking has been trauma free... so far...

Does your yard look festive???

I live out in the sticks so no one really has wild decorations...lights yes but not all those reindeer and santas! Having said that I have never been able to get any tinsel near my horses bridle...he freaks so I don't bother now. Perhaps he thinks it is all a bit too naff for him!!!

That sounds nice and tasteful. I hack round a council estate... nuff said!

I can't get tinsel round Meg's head either, but Chloe wore a nice (aka tacky) gold wreath over her ears at this years carol service without complaining.

B isn't too bad although she did have histerics at an inflatable santa last year. My pony hates them all apart from the manger which someone very kindly filled with hay

There was some left - unfortunately she also picked up the baby Jesus by his foot so I had to wrestle it out of her mouth... Luckily it was 7:30 on a Sunday morning so no one was around

We have actually only tried out one in such situations - yes, OTT council estate - and he really couldn't care less. We haven't taken the others near such displays as there is very little need for us. Your horse will probably soon get used to them _ I hope anyhow
