Last week when I went to turn Bruno out in the morning and he had a cut on the front of each fetlock. The cuts are like scrapes. So I cleaned them up and turned them out. Over the next couple of days every morning they were opened up again. He is bedded on a thick shavings bed which I have brought forward. One fetlock has been slightly hot and swollen in the mornings but has come down once he has been turned out, he is also slightly lame. He also has similar scrape type cuts on his knees but not as deep. His hocks are clean. Has anyone come across anything similar before?

Does he bang on the stable door at feeding time or before he's turned out?

That's all I can think of how he might have done it.
I would just clean and apply cream, sudocrem or similar, twice a day before he goes out and when he comes in.

The leg that's hot and swollen, I would cold hose twice a day as well and keep an eye on it as it may be infected, in which case you'll need some antibiotics from your vet.

One of my friends had a horse who kept coming in with scrapes on his fetlocks. Turned out the horse had narclepsy and was falling over in the field.

He doesn't kick as far as I am aware and I have checked the door and there are no marks on it or on any of the walls. He's always been a 'special' horse but this has really got me flummoxed! I have noticed that he is lying down a lot both inside and out since I clipped him and wonder if it's possible that he's doing it then.
