My tb had a scar on his front fetlock when I first got him (posted before on here but can't find thread) anyway he managed to open this scar ( its almost like his legs are rubbing together)and I have tried all sorts and as soon as it seems to be healing he opens it again.. It's quite a deep wound and a bit swollen, he isn't lame. Vet suggested bandaging which I've been doing... My question is what else could be used to protect it( brushing boots rub the scab off) for turn out and riding.. Any ideas? It's been bleeding on and off 3 months.. Thanks

When my pony had a tooth removed sometime ago (they had to drill through the jaw bone from the outside so we had a hole right through which had to heal from the inside out....) I made a headcollar from old tights with a gauze holder in the appropriate place. It was really successful, in fact I made a couple so they could be washed regularly and it was easy to change the gauze. Not sure whether this will help you but the advantage with tights is that they are elastic, not too slidey, and if you need to sew tie tapes on, it's quite easy to do.

Sportabac turnout socks are great, they also do a wrap for riding, I like them as they aren't as bulky as some of the others, and didn't rub my mare.

You know the sausage boot that is normally worn on the back leg to prevent them rubbing/standing on the other leg?
Could you put that on the good front leg whilst the other heels?
