Hi all.
Well the big hairy came in from the field just over two weeks ago with a swollen hind, swelling was large hard warm and radiated from fetlock up the leg to about half way up cannon bone.
Vet has visited and then a week later he went in for scans and xrays just to be on safe side. All xrays clear and ligaments and tendons all looked good on scan but fetlock joint itself showed some distension and vet thought he had sprained and bled into joint a bit. He was 2-3tenths lame at this point.
Now at two weeks from initial injury there is still some swelling after being stood in but it goes down to a golf ball size on each side after turn out.
He is currently still being cold hosed and is turned out during day and not ridden and not on medication. Vet will return wednesday to see how its doing.
I would just be interested to know if anyone one has experienced this kind of injury? If so any idea how much time off he will need and what prognosis is like to return to hacking and dressage? Think am starting to panic a bit as its still swollen and when I have had horses many years ago do tendon damage it has been pretty serious. Any help appreciated
