Evening everyone

I am looking at possible options for a young horse who regularly overreaches and have come across fetlock rings as an option for the back. My question is, are they any use on the front legs as well?

TIA

As in a sausage boot?

I used them on a horse on one of his front legs but that was because he kept standing on the coronet band/edge of pastern of one leg with his other front foot!

Think it depends where they are overreaching - if it's on the heel then an over reach boot would be more effective but if it's on the side of the foot then a sausage boot might work better.
Presuming you use one behind as horse is a bit close behind? Or using them to teach horse about propiroception?

Not sure what that long word means, lol ;). I'm trying to prevent horse catching his leg with the shoe from the opposing foot. Ideally looking for something that can be worn for long periods of time, whilst turned out etc.

I used to use them on a pony who brushed very low down, brushing boots were no good as too high, she used to trim her coronet band. Never used them for turnout but had them on for day long rides with no problem. I can never work out how they would work for overreaching though, I can't see how they would do anything and overreach boot can't?

It means knowing where the body part is in space ie. Increases awareness of where limbs are :)

If you want it for turnout then I'd defo use the sausage boot :)
I'd also mention it to farrier to see if he can do anything to help reduce the catching

My boy wheres one behind when he goes out or it worked, i would recommend one with a leather strap not webbing, as the webbing one i did had came apart , very useful thing he us to cut across and when excited catch him self down low !

i do swop which leg it goes on regularly

Another question (thanks for all the replies to date). Are you allowed to wear a fetlock ring in a low level dressage competition? (Unaffiliated but using BD rules)....?

Not if under BD rules, no protective boots are allowed, although you can warm up in it and take it off at the last minute.
