My mare has a bone cyst on her front fetlock (for two years) and went very lame after a hack out six weeks ago. She also has puffiness just above fetlock on the opposite side to the cyst. The vet suggested tendon inflammation. She is on routine Danilon as she is 22 and has arthritis. The only other treatment I give is regular hosing or ice packs (we have plenty of ice around the yard! My question is, is it normal to still have heat and inflammation after six weeks, or should it be subsiding now. I am going to give it another month before I decide whether or not to retire her completely. Up till now we have just enjoyed regular hacks to keep her mobile and I would really like to continue, but if she suffers as a result, then obviously I have to decide to retire or pts if she is in constant pain.
