Wondering if you could help me.....

Hopefully I will be hunting (for the first time) between Christmas and new year. I have black boots, cream/beige breeches, i'm borrowing a hacking jacket and a stock but I need to buy a shirt. I've been told I need a collarless one, can somebody point me in the right direction?

Also how much is the cap? I know it varies but just an idea would be good. Any other tips or things i may have forgotten? Im going with people who hunt all season so I should be ok :)

Thanks!

You will need a shirt with a collar like a vicar - not the best description, but all I can think of at the moment! If you don't have one and you're not going to hunt a lot, a normal (warm) top with your stock pinned to it will be fine.

I think you said you were wearing a hacking jacket though, so strictly speaking you should wear a tie and normal collared shirt with that - up to you though!

As to your cap, it really does depend on the hunt and how old you are - our caps are either £20 (under 25s) or £50 for over 25s, but I know our neighbouring pack is £10 higher, and our other neighbours are £10 lower! Best to check with your friends or give the Secretary a quick ring.

Most importantly of all....have fun!
