Just found out that there's a show being held at the yard in September where I keep my horse, so went online and looked at the classes (all showing... hrm) but though I might have a go at the equitation...

Can I use my grey jacket is my first question?! If I can't... eek. Got a navy one in the wardrobe that's a little small (and about to go on ebay!) but really hoping I don't need a tweed one... I hate them for a start and can't afford it :P

What tack is permitted?? Horse goes in a loose-ring snaffle anyway, so guessing that's not a problem. what nosebands are ok? Pref. him in a grackle as it works best, but use a flash for dressage and if need be he /can/ make do with just a cavesson...
Also, dressage saddle or jumping saddle? Last time I did equitation (spur of the moment thing... and it was my first time xD) I think I only had a GP... which I now don't have...

Otherwise, I'm guessing I should just look neat, smile, and ride well! Plan on going to watch at a show in the next week, see if I can pick up some tips

Sorry for always writing ridiculous amounts! Can you tell I don't do showing of any sort!?! haha

Equitation is all about you, not the horse. how well you ride and how well you use your aids. Depending on what level you are riding at, depends on what the judge will ask you to do. you will be asked to do a simple show (trot and canter in figure of 8) and then maybe a rein back, turn on the forehand or riding without stirrups or possibly and extension of trot or canter.
Everything else-tack etc will be in the rules of the club who is holding the show.
Dress smartly, smile and ride like your life depends on it and you should come out on top! good luck!

Thanks! My only problem is I can't seem to find the rules on the website or anything... we just got handed the flyer while we were in a tack shop and it so happened that the show is being held at our yard! Might give the organizers an email if need be...
