Following a stable accident one of my horses has now come home from being tested for ligament injuries, he has no damage to any ligaments but needed an op to a fractured splint bone, the surgery went well and prognosis is good on this.

He has however been left with a fair amount of fibrosis around his fetlock, this is expected to improve but over a very long period which I feel will restrict his movement and may limit his ability to return to jumping. At the moment he is on box rest for the next 6 weeks which will not help the fetlock joint mobility so looking for ideas which with approval of the vet may aid his recovery.

ARC Equine unit being one thought, I have a great physio who I will ask for advice on any other therapies available but more ideas welcome, especially any success stories.

My physio thinks it is too late for ultrasound to help, she is going to look into it and see what the best treatment will be, possibly laser although this will not be able to be started for several weeks due to him needing time to recover from the op, have stitches out etc.

I had laser treatment myself on fibrosis round an operation site quite old and badly handled at the time it made a huge difference to my comfort levels .

Great to know it helped you, almost more so than if it was a horse, similar scenario the badly handled part:( My physio will, if she feels this is the correct treatment, loan me her unit so I can do the treatments, a bonus as getting towards limits on insurance due to the bad handling of diagnosis, not that he would be left untreated otherwise.
