Field battery and charger

Does anyone have any recommendations. I have a energizer but now need a battery and charger so looking for advice. Nothing too expensive!
 
I also got my batteries from the local scrap yard. I did buy a battery charger though which cost me £100 but I wanted a good one and the one I bought was recommended to me.
 
Scrap yard for batteries and we have a cheap but very effective charger from Argos. Try to have two batteries so one is always ready to use and replace a tired one. We have (had!) three, but I have used one all winter to start my car... not sure OH realises yet...
 
I had a not cheap (130) Numax Battery which worked great through summer but the min it got a bit cold it died so exchanged that for a Platinum leisure one which seems to be doing ok so far not to impressed with its battery life though compared to the Numax. I picked up a cheap (30) charger from Halfords and its done the job so far. I am lucky to have both horses petrified of the tape they didn't have a battery on their fence for almost 2 months between energizers and batteries going wrong :)
 
Im looking for a rechargeable battery and a compatible charger, I presume a charger that says it does 12v batteries will do any type?
 
Leisure battery is always the best, but will be the most expensive! Due to being designed to run down to lower voltage than a car type. If you use a car type, try and get one that used to be used in a diesel. This will be a higher AH (Amp Hour) rating. To make any battery last longer, never let it go dead flat. Lead acid batteries are not designed to go flat. Either have two batteries and swop regular before they die. Or get a solar panel from Maplin or similar to boost the charge into the battery. Lidl,do a superb solid state battery charger for about £19 which discharges and then charges, then trickle charges and maintains your battery. Worth a look.
 
The battery that we use at the moment is a Numax Fit One Charge One. Cost me just over £100, came with the 2 batteries and the charger. A bit more expensive than just a car battery but it's done the job pretty well for a couple of years so far.
 
I had a halfords battery (now have a lorry one) but we charged it with jump leads off the car and have a solar pannel on it also which keeps it charged. The solar pannel was the best thing as we never knew when the batteries were done until one or more horses were out lol.
