Hi , I have a couple of rescue shetlands who live out 24/7 365 days . As they seem to live on fresh air I don't feed them any sort of feed except they have big piles of hay/haylage in the winter . they have good coats and hooves etc , but i do worry that they aren't getting any sort of vit/mineral intake. should they be having something. I don't really want to get into feed buckets etc as they'll probably fall out. one shet is 16 and the other is 6 , your thoughts on this please.

I have Shetlands and other natives, they live out and do not require any fancy cereal based foods. I use a Mineral lick by Rockies and also make seaweed available. In this way they decide what they want to lick and how often.

In the winter I also feed a variety of fruit and vegetables. Horses are browsers and require a variety of fibre and roughage. I have owned them for 12 years and they have never had colic and have plenty of energy.
