hiya,

have a dilema... i have a very bulshy hypo mare when it comes to jumping and she has to be turned out otherwise it makes her worse.
i have a sj comp on sunday and its the first time in years so shes going to be very excited but i dont know wether to turn her out or not as the fields are quite bad.
four and a half years ago she pulled both suspensory ligaments through cantering through really boggy fields and i dont want this to happen again, because knowing my luck she will damage herself and wont be able to go sunday... so my question to you is do you think i should rish turning her out in a boggy field where she could hurt herself and half a fairly timid horse or keep her in a be safe but have a very very very hypo horse for sunday?

thanks

Could you not work her over jumps in your school everyday so as the jumping is not so much of an issue on the day??? and maybe give her a good lunging before you go to the show???(if she inclined to be hypo doubt it will make much difference as she will run on adrenalin when she gets there)!!If you worried about turnout work instead!!Hope you get on ok!

If it was a normal day with no show involved would you????That is the question!!!I know fields are bad at the mo,oursare,my lad still goes out every day,if they are going to injure themselves they will!!If it was me i would routine as normal, just bring in early enough to clean her up!!I know you are probably extra cautious with the previous injury, but we cant wrap em up as much as we would like to,lol, sounds like she would benefit from chilling in the field 1st!!!!

Keep her in until Sunday?! Thats 4 days away. I think you should certainly turn her out by then, and Id also turn her out far more often and regularily so she got more used to it which would then make her less likely to gallop about when she is out.

she goes out everyday, im on full livery so they have a routine, they usually go out about half 7am then come in around 3 o'clockpm so they have a long time out but the answer to your question hadfos is that is there was no show i would turn her out but im slightly paranoid that she may hurt herself as usually its just my luck that she will hurt herself... but i will take your advise and turn her out, sounds to me that it may be a benifit for sunday!!

thanks guys!!
