Hi everyone, this is going to be a really silly question.
What size field shelter would be suitable for a 2/3 horses? I've been looking around at them on the net etc.

What sizes are yours and how many horses does it fit in?

Sorry for the thick post lol xx

Umm, a big one?

When mine graze outside their stables we leave a stable open so they can use it if they want, and Mysti doesnt get a look in, Honey is very possesive even if its not "her" stable :p

Mine is slightly larger than 12 x 12 and fits a 15hh and a section a nicely- with space for both and a big hay manger along the back. Although for 2/3 depending on their sizes I'd be more inclined to go at least 18 x 18 (give or take as you want) just to give them enough space.

I have one that is 7.2m x 3.6m for a 16.3 warmblood and 14.2 Haffie. I think that with a smaller one the dominant horse would just keep the other one out and/or kick them if you want to feed hay in the shelter. Probably depends on how well your horses get on with each other.

Hmmm, it depends how much your horses want to get in the shelter. The biggest you can manage is good, a good overhang all around, multiple sheds, or sectioned are even better, a bully will corner another horse in a 12' shed just as easily as it will in a 20' one.

I have seen three 15h+ in a 16' x 8' all lying down, last year there were 2 minis, a big goat and 3 x 12.2 weanlings sleeping in it in a big pile.

I have a 24' x 10' in another paddock that has been sectioned in half, I regularly see three horses 14h-15.2h packed into a 12' wide space, head in as if they were in a trailer!

If you plan to feed in a shelter (I don't) then obviously you need to give them more space, also if you have a serious bully someone is probably going to get left out regardless of the size, bully will just spend all the time prowling and defending territory - I've watched a couple do it here. Frustrating.

I've seen 2 horses and 2 ponies squash amicably into a 10ft x10ft during a thunderstorm. I've also seen 1 drive one out of a 30ft x 10ft. Much depends on the horses themselves. If 2 get on well together then I'd guess 10 or 12ft x 16 or 20 ft sort of size. Sorry ,cant be more helpful, its a dificult decision.
