Field Shelter

What sort of 'floor' do you have in your field shelters?

Do you just leave it bare or have some sort of hard standing down and if so what?

Mine is bare but I move it around quite a lot (it's on metal skids)

When I used it as a stable I bedded it deep in straw

I have beaten earth in mine, but will put some bark on top later on in the spring.

Nothing in 1 as its a mobile shelter.
The other 2 fixed ones have the 'clean' from the stables at the end of the winter - stuff that is clean but old & I think it could do as a flooring in the shelters. Occasionally I might add a bale to the fixed shelter if they are used a bit in the winter.
I use Eco Comfybed, so this doesnt fly around if windy either

ours have concreted floors but they are on the side of big barns so guess it was all done at the same time! I just bed them down with straw or shavings

The entrance to my field shelter is soooooooooo muddy. What would you suggest I put down. Not so bad inside, but the entrance is just horrible!

Wait till spring, then pull back any soft stuff (barrow it away to a hedge line somewhere) & then get a few tonnes of tarmac scalpings in - be careful to get level right & tamp down well so any rainwater falls away from the shelter doorway

I have rubber mats inside mine.... they have worked really well... I do have a few around the entrance too but this year they appear to have sunk
