Field shelter

I have just moved me horses to graze that has a field shelter. The shelter floor is mud but solid and is holding up really well. The ground in front of the shelter is really deep mud, is there anything I can put down to stop it being so muddy?

Not really, you are far better to wait until the summer, scrape away the top layer, then put hardcore and sand down.

That's what I thought, typical it's rained non stop since I moved them.

That's what I thought, typical it's rained non stop since I moved them.

As a short term fix wood chippings will help, so will a load of straw, hardcore possibly requires planning permission.
