Just a question really, can you get one that is one field shelter but split into two? Basically we have 3 horses but one has to be seperated from the other two. Also do you find your horses use them in winter?

yes, i've had a shelter with a split in it and separate doors... although, two separate shelters would prob be better, avoid arguments etc.
yes, mine have always used them a lot in winter. the smart ones run to them when it looks like rain...

Mine use them more in hot weather - at the moment they're in all the time avoiding flies. In winter less so, they stand in front to block the wind, but don't always bother going in.

my 2 use their shelter throughout the year - to shelter from rain in winter and sun in summer - also useful for hanging haynets in so fields don't get poached - get very cross if they cant get in there.

My shelter is 2 openings but into one space if that makes sense 18ftx12ft. However, a friend has a 3 stables 2 open at the front and the third at the side. If you contact any stable manufacturers they should be able to do something for you - maybe with the 2 stables joined into one and opening at the front (2 openings are good in case of squabbles) and the third opening at the side.

Hope this helps x

My two are always in it. In summer during the day, at night as if they were actually put in at nights. As soon as it gets dark, my boy goes in it. They both pop in and out during the day, particularly if its hot. Its 18 feet by 10 feet and completely open fronted. To split it into two, I think it would have to be built more substantially and with kick boards etc in case of kicking damage.

The only time they don't use it is when its raining...of course!

As above.

If you get a good contractor they can specifically build to your requirements. I have one with a built in 'hidden' feed room so it is not noticeable to outside viewers and also had extra height built onto one for larger horses. Likewise, our horses love them as a place of shelter from weather/flies etc, just today our Shetland was seen running hell for leather into one of them to get away from the dirge of flies this year (Even after copious amounts of spray). I have five shelters of varying degrees and I couldn't be without them.
