Which ones are the best? Horses are currently just on grass and hay. They have a salt lick each but wondering if they need a bit more vit and min wise? Looking fir something for stable or field. No molasses or sugary stuff!! Just a plain simple lick please.

I put a Himalayan salt lick in the field this year but if it gets wet it just disintegrates.

Has anyone used the Simple Systems salt lick with magnesium trug? It seems quite expensive but if it doesn’t dissolve in the rain it would be worth it.

Not all horses will self-supplement using licks. UK grass and hay is notoriously unstable in nutrients, therefore you are better off giving a small feed like a handful of chaff with a vitamin and mineral supplement.

What I don't understand with the ones that don't dissolve in the rain, is how a horse is meant to be a lick a meaningful amount from it? They don't have sandpaper toungues like sheep or cows, and there is nothing in saliva afaik that aids in dissolving salts.
