Just wondered if any of you have any recommendations for rugs. Now it's coming up to winter it's not always possible to dry rugs sufficiently overnight so, I thought an outdoor rug suitable for indoors might be the best bet.

Thanks
:)

HI

I have used turnouts in the stable for years - they dry much quicker if you leave them on the horse and with modern fabrics they are fine for dual purpose. Occasionally if it has been really really wet I change into another turnout rug when they come in but it then takers the other rug about a week to dry whereas if i just left it on it would be dry in a couple of hours!

I have used weatherbeeta, fal, mark todd etc in the stable -all fine.

Also saves the horse having to get a cold rug on.

That's what I've been doing but read an article about a 'field to stable' rug with a 'special' fabric for quick drying. Can't remember where I read it - oh well I'll carry on doing what I'm doing.

Thanks anyway :)

I started keeping the wet turnouts on overnight (if necessary adding other (stable) rugs underneath for extra warmth) only this last winter. It works really well, and I will be sticking with this in future.

Interesting post as my stable rugs have become fairly redundant over the years. I only seem to use them if they are in the stable for any length of time due to illness or extreme weather. If the rug has had light rain in the day, its the best way to get them dry by leaving them on the horse overnight. Obviously if its soaked, it comes off and I hang it out to dry but I have now spare turnouts now and rotate them all through the winter.... I cannot believe it will be that rug time again soon!
