I am Topping my field this weekend, well a section of it...... we are using a stimmer and then raking up the cuttings that day. Can I turn out on it straight after doing this ?
I would consider to strim and then remove small areas at a time, as not only will it be better for your muscles to swap over every so often but it will also mean you dont do all the strimming and not have enough energy for the clearing (speak from experience )))
My field was topped today by a tractor and the youngster chased it around then started eating the cuttings. He is fine, as long as there is no ragowrt or poisonous plants to wilt and be eaten I can't see a problem. Depends how long it is I suppose mine was just patches.
Our farmer topped the grass last week and didn't tell us, horses were out all afternoon on it - they didn't seem to eat the cuttings and were all fine.
