Well as I'm away soon and Otto gets a holiday I thought I'd squeeze one more competition.

He's not been on his best behaviour at home just lately so wasn't to sure how he'd be. All was well and settled when we arrived and he warmed up ok. No spooky moments but felt rather lazy, not normally like him to be lazy :)

The test went ok, no nasty moments where I'm clinging on after a spook, however still felt very lazy. I have been riding him in some Mark Todd spurs with the round balls on the end but these seemed to be having no effect at all (his skin marks quite easily so hense the round ball spur).
We managed to get 1st place with 62.08% which was deserved really as he was lacking enthusiasm.

So I decided to opt for the other pair of spurs, slightly shorter but no balls :D and these certainly did the trick. he warmed up much better, and actually realised I was riding him!!
We got 2nd place with 65.83%
We do seem to be getting more consistant marks just lately and those of you who know him through here or in 'real life' will know he's not been an easy horse, so I'm just pleased we can actually complete a test without a naughty moment

The first photos are from the warm up:

and a couple from the test, the lazy test! Please excuse my jacket, I've lost a bit of weight and it's a bit big now :D but hanging onto it until I've lost more weight, then I will buy a new one :)

Looking good Janey! Let me know if you'd like to try the metal rollerball spurs as I'm not using them at the moment. Well done on the results though, really pleased all your hard work is paying off. Have a fab holiday :)

Well done :D looking really good! Have you tried the spurs with the fixed ball on the end? We used to use these on Milo as they wont mark the skin because they are smooth, but give a bit more of a feel than I imagine the moving ball ones would?

Also question: Do they still have all the showjumps alongside the dressage arena, or did they clear the arena this time? We are going soon and want to be prepared for Milo trying to jump the showjumps in his dressage saddle!

Well done, looking really good! We had planned to go there to do there unaff on the Sat for G'd dressage debut but they cancelled it :( Will hopefully manage to go next time.

Nice horse - i like him!

I have only recently just started using the forum again so i haven't read any of your posts - but glad you had a nice time out without any 'naughty' moments.

What tests did you do?

I clicked on this thread as fascinated to see what an aardvark horse looks like! He definitely does not look like one.

lol all the showjumps were gone. They had two dressage arenas side by side instead which was much better!

Will have a look at those spurs thanks x

Ohh but he does!! :D He has the same character as one, although having not met 'one' personally I can only imagine.

They are born blind and slow, a bit like my boy can be sometimes lol when he chooses to be :D
