I brought my horses in yesterday as they were really cold and shivering in the rain and cold wind.

Went up to them today and hari has filled back legs i took her out did her stable but put her back in as our fields are just mud with all the rain that has fallen.

I will put her out tomorrow.

I think it is odema(sp?) that she has in her legs from being in and was wondering if putting stable bandages on them will help?
And if yes would i just bandage the back or do all 4?

Yes, bandage both hinds or all four. Or you could use tubigrip. Hinds are more likely to swell because they are further from the heart so the circulation is reduced.

Or don't bother. If it goes down again when turned out or exercised, why go to all the bother of bandaging. My Ari did the same after fifteen hours inside and loads of people on here said not to bother bandaging.

i always used to bandage merls back legs as he suffered from filled legs...this helped loads and then massaged them once i took them off before he went out...I also do min's leg's at times esp as she;s on box rest...

My pony's back legs fill when she's in - it started last year and I stopped it by putting matting down but its back again this year. I'm resisting bandages as she's very wet

so they'd be vile. I'm moving her into a bigger stable soon so she'll have more room to move around instead

yeah i could try her on hay.

She has been getting haylage out in the field for a while would this still make a difference.

I put her out in the field for an hour today while i did her stable and they have gone down a bitty brought her back in and put bandages on her.

will go and get hay tomorrow she probably will turn her nose up at it but if thats all she is getting im sure she will eat it. LOL

Don't worry too much about it mine gets it all the time when in in winter. By the time he has walked part way over to the scool they are back to normal. He is worse for it on haylage so swapping to hay may help (I was told it was due to protein content?).

I have also heard that bandaging is not benificial in the long term as it can damage the lymphatic drainage making the underlying situation worse even if it helps with the symptoms. (depends what studies you read). I have also found he is a little less prone now he is on garlic, which is supposed to help with circulation.
