My 23 year old TB has been suffering with filled legs recently. He is out 24/7 at the moment on fairly good grass. He has always had really good legs up until the last few weeks, although they would fill if standing in the stable or the day after hunting, etc. Just wondered what anyone else's thoughts are on this, is it just likely to be the protein in the grass, or something more sinister at his age? I am a bit worried as he does have a heart murmour, although this hasn't caused him any problems up until now.

My mares legs fill up quite a lot and shes in her mid 20s .

It could be the protein in the grass as they find it harder to absorb things as they get older. C always fills up when shes stabled or is moved to v good grazing.

Im going to try C on those stable chaps for when shes in at night and will try her on the magnetic boots too.

My mare's 19 now and for the last 3 years had filled legs in the spring. Tried circulation herbs, cortaflex and the only thing that has helped is to put cider vinear in her food every few days. Just a splash, but had no swellings this year. Try it - cheaper than some products on the market and you can get it from feed merchants.
