My horse has been on box rest for just over 2 weeks know and i have just noticed her back legs have filled up around the hock area what could this be?

The fact that she is on box rest. Ari's sometimes do it if he has to stay in for too long overnight. It's a circulation thing, a horse needs to move about to keep everything circulating properly. Back legs are more usual because they are further from the heart but it can be all four.

Is your mare on total boxrest or could she perhaps go out in restricted turnout so she can move about a bit more?

If my boy stands still for too long his wingalls come up. (Not on the hock but above his fetlock obviously). I used a bioflow magnetic boot when he was on box rest as he could have a m inimum of movement. This helped untill I was able to walk him out. They go on like a brushing boot, so would help the hock area.

Strict box rest due to lammi. Will it go down once she starts to come out? Is there anything i can do otherwise?

It usually goes down as soon as they are turned out or exercised. In your case maybe edtheunlucky's suggestion of magnetic boots might be beneficial. Lots of people also bandage, but I really don't know what the long term implications of constant bandaging might be as I don't do it.

can also give marigold flowers (calendula) and clivers - both herbs - helps puffy legs - can get them off ebay - feed in dinner even helped with my horses windgalls this summer and they are huge
