Just after some thoughts on stable wraps please. These sort of things: http://www.equestrianclearance.com/weatherbeeta/roma-stable-wraps/index.html

Quick rundown is that our mare has LV (UV Photosensitivity); since diagnosis she was on box rest for a few weeks with steroids and 2 types of topical cream for the lesions. This all really helped and when she was comfortable and legs less raw she started going out in the field and steroids reduced then stopped. Her legs are ALWAYS either bandaged (for riding) or equi chaps on for turnout and at no point has she had UV light on them since diagnosis as I have been very careful but her legs are naked in stable.

For some reason she has had a little flare up again this week so on consultation with vets she is on box rest again with exercise and the stronger topical cream for the worst bits (but no steroids). The lesions are a bit yellowy but the main issue I'm having is that her legs get hugely swollen from being stood in (part of the reason I was trying to get her turned out as much as poss before the flare up). As soon as you get her moving it drains very quickly to almost normal size.

Have been looking at stable wraps as per link above for 2 reasons; 1) It would help keep the lesions cleaner as she sleeps lying down on her side every night and 2) I wonder if they would help keep the swelling down?

I don't want to use them if constricting the swelling could potentially make her more sore or would using a well fitted wrap actually help with the fluid drainage/circulation? She is a bit sore around fetlocks for the first minute or two when exercising but then they drain quickly and she is fine (to the point that bandages become very loose where the swelling dissipates which is another good reason to keep the swelling down so she doesn't end up like Nora Batty 20 mins in).

Any thoughts please? Have spent a fortune on boots/bandages since diagnosis so don't want to buy them if not suitable or are going to exacerbate the condition... thanks in advance!
