Just been half watching the gladiator film on tv and was wondering where do they get all those horses and what happens to them once the film has been made :-/
Anyone know ??
There seems to be allot of horses in it, wonder how many get badly injured, hate watching them fall :-(

I think they are stunt horses, the ones you see falling are actually trained to fall in a certain way.

Alot of the extras are just people who have horses who know the right people etc and they will be paid for however many days work and often the horses are just peoples normal horses. As said above though the ones that fall or do anything dramatic are stunt horses that are trained.

For the film RAN, Akira Kurosawa brought in trained horses from America. All the riders were Japanese, as the film is set in the time of the Samurai.
