Finadyne?

i believe it is stronger than bute/danilon and i dont think it is normally prescribed for long periods of time.
has your vet prescribed this for your horse? what time are we talking about for a long period?

no not prescriped for my horse. Just wondering if horses could just go on it long term to keep them comfortable if they needed it if bute did not work?

id be wanting further investigations into why the horse wasnt comfortable without it.
i think youd be looking at liver damage for prolonged use of it (happy to stand corrected though)

Stronger isn't really the right word, finadyne has a different makeup to both bute and danilon.
Bute is a moderate painkiller AND anti inflammatory. For a strong painkiller you need finadyne, it has next to no direct anti inflammatory affect. For a strong anti inflammatory you would need dexadreson, which has next to no direct painkilling effect.
I do know you can't keep them on dexadreson for long due to the risk of laminitis, but have no idea about finadyne.
My opinion would be that if finadyne is the only thing that manages pain for your horse, it is time to think about THE other option.
