Our first KC competition is on Saturday! Holy cow we were not very good but hey, I just hope we have fun and Rew enjoys himself, but not too much. Less boinging required and more steady listening to me! We have agility, jumping and steeplechase to do, thankfully one of those shouldn’t have weaves in it as they are still our nemisis. And jumping off the see saw because I’m still running to catch up, overweight middle aged women should not try agility with zoomy lurchers!

Good luck! The hooligan doesn’t do weaves yet either & will totally try & ping off the seesaw if I don’t actively tell him to wait… at our last training session he pretended he’d forgotten what a tunnel was & also his cue to jump because apparently I’m not worthy of being listened to if I’m not nearly stood next to him… The previous week we had a standoff about him coming over a jump (he occasionally sees if he can extort food from me or force me to wave his toy about by sitting down in the middle of the course… we’re a long way off being competition ready 🤣)

I’ll see if I can get there before work. I want to see this!
At least he’s enthusiastic and you know won’t nap going in the ring. 😁

Omg aren’t you all just lovely! We had a very good time… Rew found it all crazily exciting, first class he decided not to take the first jump but leave the ring at his ballistic speed after who knows what, and returned to me at the same speed! He had three runs at loony zoomy speed and direction, think a couple of laps if the ring in between jumps 🤦🏼‍♀️ and then was toasted for the fourth run, which I pulled him out of halfway through.

In short, we were eliminated on all four runs, but apparently that isn’t unusual! In one class there were 25 entries, and 14 of those were eliminations, I didn’t expect that. We learnt a lot and had a really good day, and are wiped out.

Back to training on Wednesday. 😊

There will be vids I hope!

Brilliant! Well done Rew and you! I had a rescue Grippet (Greyhound x Whippet) and although I managed to train her to heel, come and leave it, mainly by pairing hand/arm signals with voice commands, I would never have had the nerve to compete her. Chaos would have ensued and we'd have been disqualified pronto.
Onwards and upwards now?

Glad you had fun 😊. Literally every practice round I have done in training so far would result in elimination I think, god knows what we’d be like at a competition! (Today the Hooligan had a sit down protest at the first jump 🙈 He then bogged off up the A frame first chance he got and spent a good 20 seconds looking down on all us peasants refusing to come down)

The video is hilarious, I don’t think he took a single obstacle in the correct order, or if he did he jumped it from the right direction. Them he bogged off to bark at another dog, and had a few zoomies too!

I think you have to upload to YouTube? Or Facebook if you make it public? I’ve never been able to, I’m just quoting others 😃

Four classes and four eliminations wasn’t exactly glory, but we had fun and will continue!

Sorry STR I’m useless at techy stuff, I can just about put photos on but sometimes they are sideways or double up … we need a young person to explain how to get videos on here in step by step instructions 😀

If you upload your video to youtube (which is very straight forward to do) then you can copy and paste the page address into a post on here, and when we click on it we will go straight to your youtube video :)

It sounds like you had a memorable day, well done to you for going and to Rew for making sure that the only way from here is up 🤣 It certainly sounds like he enjoyed himself though 😁

4 eliminations at a first show is pretty standard I think, sounds like Rew had fun which is the important thing . We've got a UKA show this morning, with Ziggy it is either all or nothing , but he is great fun to run.

Yes it works.
Thank you.
I’ll delete it now 😄

so STR, if you don’t mind everyone knowing your real name you can put it on fb, share as public and copy the link.
I’m not even going to attempt YouTube, I am quietly confident it will be beyond me.
