so, after all the issues we've seen this season, Ron and I finally got to go hunting this weekend!
(and for a nail biting evening I thought I wouldn't get to go as it was soooo windy, but thankfully it died down overnight)
was an odd sort of a day where we covered miles and miles and got all spread out and met a neighbouring pack, and there were tumblers left right and centre (none serious, thankfully), but I turned away at 1, with a 4 mile hack home, having thoroughly enjoyed myself. Plus I was reminded just how wonderful my horse is.
I don't like jumping straight from the meet, and feel it's only fair to give a horse a chance to warm up and get going first, so opted to stick with the non-jumpers first off... this was working well until we stood and watched the others jumping a trappy fence from an adjacent field... I had to turn him to look the other direction, or I'd have been jumped over the wire fence, and then the trappy fence with a bad case of impatient queue jumping!
anyway, when we did get some jumping he was actually far more patient than sometimes, and made a nice job of them. he also was almost listening to me, and going in something resembling self carriage rather than using my arms to prop his head up! I think he might finally be growing up!?!
and just cos I think he's wonderful, and I'm impressed at how shiny he is given he's still living out, and isn't even getting haylage yet... here's a pic for you all
