People may recall we recently found a new horse as our superstar had injured himself really badly and eventing again was far too risky, at one point even coming sound was doubtful. However months of meticulous rehab and we got him sound and the go ahead to start dressage and went to our first competition today almost a year after the injury. Although not been off the yard in all that time he loaded like a dream and apart from his excitement at cantering (only allowed very short time cantering so havent really practiced trot canter transitions much, umm you can guess how they went!!) he was pretty amazing getting 70% in prelim. So will now concentrate on dressage and jumping should allowed all being well at end of June which will make his day as he loves it.
So dont despair at really awful prognosis, sadly we havent got an event horse back but he was always a fab alrounder and will do everything else now, plus we have a new baby eventing superstar in the making, we are very lucky.

That's lovely news. A friend of mine took to sidesaddle when her brilliant competition horse was injured. They are doing well and enjoying that.

Wonderful news! I love to hear of them coming back fit, well and most of all happy!
I had a similar long lay off with no positive prognosis and we did our first dressage the weekend before, we just went out at intro as our canter wasn't anywhere near fit enough to circle AND do a straight line! I daren't think about jumping this year though, just in case, but it was gutting walking Somerford BE80 course this weekend and thinking he would have eaten it up before being poorly.
