and bought a chifney bit.

My mare had me in tears this morning (and I NEVER cry over anything!!) trying to bring her in from the field. Tried everything but she just wasn't listening/willing & kept taking the p***, basically walking all over me...

Did some quick training with my instructor going up & down the muddy slope to the field (in her chifney) & initially she was still doing the same with her... seemed to get the idea eventually though.

Hopefully after a few trips I'll be ok again! Hate to feel that I am using something that could hurt her, but safety & respect should come first.

i used a chifney to lead my old cob he was a nightmare without it! i would be hanging on the end of the lead rope while he tank off to where ever he wanted but with the chifney he was so good and i had control! and in time i didnt have to use anymore as he had more respect for me so keep going it worked for me :-)

dont worry she has the option to walk nicely next to you. I use it occasionally on my 3 yr old when she is really full of it and have a loose rein so it only comes into play if she starts to mess about. They learn that they can wlak nicely and it doesnt come into play or they can mess about and it stops them. safe than sorry.

We have 2 that have to be led in a chifney - they lead like a dream with it in, but my God they know when it isn't there and revert back to naughty behaviour - better to have something that is there if needed, than a fight everytime
