You may remember from a while back that I was feeling a bit disheartened with my horse who is a bit special and the fact that whilst I wasn't worried about competing I was worried about all the logistics that go with it.

Forest's progress:

Took him to a clinic and he not only jumped with very little argument but we even jumped 3 in a row on a grid without any arguments which is a huge step for him. And it was indoors which he doesn't like. He got complimented as actually being quite good just a bit nervous.

My progress: Went to a clinic with OH and going to another one next week solo.

We're hoping to go eventing this year and do a BE80 by the end of the year. Feels like there is very littl holding us back now.

I got no good jumping photos as my OH is a rubbish photographer.

Looking smart (and weirdly like a pony) in his travel kit:

And a rather arty view of him through the ear of my puppy:

Well done on your progress, you're having some good fun now. Don't blame your other half about poor photos, unless you have a camera with a shutter speed of at least 4000th of a second you'll always end up with either a blur or an empty fence because the horse has jumped & is gone! I know, been there & failed it ;)

really pleased for you both! I don't know your back story to this, but I know how you feel, I've had a hard couple of years with my horse and the last few months have been pretty awesome :) good luck for the rest of the year!

Thank you, he was bought as a very uneducated 7 year old with a weird phobia to poles. I had wanted to buy something a little more established to get out competing on... 14 months later and we're just getting to the point where we can actually do that!

If the OP has an actual camera as opposed to a phone it is worth looking at the settings. A lot of modern cameras have a sports setting which will take multiple photos when you press the button. So all you need to do is aim the camera at the fence, press down when the horse is a few strides away, and you will get a whole series of jumping photos :D

OH was more a poor photographer because he didn't put charged camera batteries in the camera even though I had given them to him!
