So I didn't get to go hunting for the first time in November because the snow came...
SO we are all set to go tomorrow! Eeeek! We are just going for an hour or so.
I have cleaned my grey beastie and will put him in a running spanish plait in t'morning. I have cleaned myself and my tack, and I have borrowed a jacket that my BP will fit under.
It is my horses' first time too. I still can't decide whether to stick him in a dutch gag or try him in his normal french link snaffle. He is unfit but may tank at the beginning, he generally tires himself out being silly at the beginning of events and is then much calmer. Oh and I have dosed him up on his calming supplement!!!!
Wish me luck!!!!

Just an update, we managed 2 hours out and called it a day as we were close to where we had left our trailer. My horse is unfit but he managed fine across moorland despite a snow covering!
The meet was great, lots of people who were all very friendly, with food and drinks to share. Very welcoming to me as a first timer, and not cliquey at all. I made sure horse and I were spotless - wish I'd had a photo as you should see the mucky state of us now! Horse behaved impeccably for the first 45 mins then started getting stroppy, hissy fit, a good rear, bucks and spins - I think he was tiring. Didn't bother with BP in the end as I figured the ground was squishy enough anyway and I ride better without.
Now all home safe and well! Looking forward to next time.

Not sure if the calmer worked, but wouldn't take him hunting again without it! He was excited enough on the calmer. Managed ok in the snaffle tho. Horse is only ridden at weekends at the mo, and had most of Nov and all of Dec off, so VERY unfit!

Planning on staying out longer next time :)
