Looking for tips on how to improve balance really - my warmblood mare is finding her paces but at the moment the big trot is downhill and heavy in the hand - she sort of clunks into it and goes. She has a great half-halt response in walk; not bad in smaller trot but once I ask her to go forwards it's just that - forwards with no real control. Can anyone suggest exercises to help with this? And also to help me keep my position - I tend to end up pulled forwards off my seatbones which doesn't help at all!

Work on transitions and count the steps. Start at 10 paces of walk, 10 of trot, 9 of walk, 9 of trot etc. do it on a serpentine to help her find her balance and stop her rushing.
