Well it's still undiagnosed! But the good news is that after weeks of my vet faffing around, the insurance called yesterday to confirm they will pay for the MRI scan, so we called the vet (who ummed and ahhed over whether they had to call the hopsital for the referral (err yes!)) and were thinking it wouldn't be for ages (usually takes my vet a week to do anything useful). Maiden tried her very hardest to damage herself today by jumping out of her pen (it's about 20x20m and about 4-5' high un-electrified electric tape), went totally beserk apparently and cut herself a bit. I called the vet on hearing this (my friend puts her out for me) and pleaded with them to hurry up, and obviously the tears worked as they called back half an hour later telling me (rather smugly I may add) that her appointment is for Friday and she needs to be at the hospital by Thursday 5pm! I am SO excited/worried/scared/apprehensive etc.!

She may be there until Friday evening, or it may be that they need to keep her over the weekend. It's not Liphook she's off to either as I expected, it's O'Gorman Slater & Main in Newbury (anyone know them?)
So any good diagnosis vibes going spare would be gratefully recieved on Friday! I will post (for anyone interested) the results of the MRI and anything else they do up on here when I know

Mine went to O'Gormans. There are a lot of vets based there and they are fine. Reasonable prices too. Make sure you take your passport with you, it will impress them! When you pick her up you are best to get there before 5 so you can speak to the vet. Also Newbury is a b****r to get through after 5 so if you can go earlier it is advisable. Hope this helps!

Good luck vibes coming your way!!!

Thank you! We're planning on getting there for 1pm as need to have the trailer back to it's owner in plenty of time, so hopefully we'll avoid traffic that way too.

Oh I'm really pleased your vets seem to be a bit more motivated now

They will call Friday once they've done the scans to tell me what they've seen and whether they want to keep her over the weekend or I can pick her up Friday evening. So they're a heck of a lot quicker than my vet (who would have taken a few days to call me back, would have booked her in for sometime in June, wouldn't have called until the last possible moment etc...) Hopefully if this is it and she is diagnosed with whatever, I am going to call the "yard vet" that everyone else at my yard has and see if they'll take her on and I can be rid of my useless vet!

Just found your post hun, thats great news that she is going in tomoro, fingers crossed.

O'Gorman, Slater and Maine are fantastic, Mr O'Gorman is lovely - he vetted Archie for me and was so nice on the phone whenever i spoke to him. I know thats not every helpful, but they are a really good practice.

Il let you know when i get my time for sunday, hopefully im not on too early, and hopefully it wont be raining

Thats great news. My boy had MRI scans and it was the best thing we could have done. It gave us a diagnosis which would never have shown on an xray and although it wasnt what we wanted to hear, he is now sound two years down the line and competing lightly dressage and jumping. I have to be very careful about the ground i ride him on and take great care of him, but at least he is still here and is happy and enjoying his life. Hope your outcome is good. Let us know.

Glad to hear the vets are good, I did hope to go to Liphook as I've heard of them and not this other one, but I did some research and apparently Liphook and O'Gorman are the nearest two places to me with a standing MRI machine so she can just be sedated. Bit of a relief as well! It will be nice to have a rest for a day or so from mucking out two or three times a day as well, she's been so mucky! I just hope they don't suggest more box rest... sedalin required I think if so!
I will post results and our plan of action as soon as my baby returns to me in one piece
