I am in desperate need of a lightweight turnout rug, i have one, but it doesn't seem to be waterproof if we have any more than a shower

Im struggling with rugs at the moment, as my boy has a hunter clip & lives out 24/7 but its far far to warm for him to have a rug with any fill in it, anyone else wish it was colder

Anyone have any recommendations makes, brands etc :D

My 2yo would get through a rug a week by ripping it with his teeth - now on a cut Price LW Derby House one - and no matter how much he tries hasnt ripped it yet (just managed to undo the buckles) and it is waterproof!!!

I have a JHL one, super rug. I have a Derby House one which seems to be very waterproof too. Never had a problem with either of them leaking in more than just a shower.

Amigo, never leaked a day in it’s 3 year life, although I’ve no idea what denier it was but I wasn’t expensive, it was one of the red ones.

Gallop, I tuck a chance on a real cheapy light weight turnout at the beginning of this year, turns out it’s a dam good rug, again never leaked, really pleased with it, fitted nicely, all still in tact (buckles/straps etc), cost something stupid …around £25.00 you can’t go wrong for that price!

Agree - brilliant rug.

Make sure it's 1200D though.

Another vote here for Amigos, I have a fair few of them in all different weights and the 1200Ds are excellent.

The old 600D rugs were great though, I have an ancient orange one that must be more than 6 years old and does not leak. I think they changed the fabric on the 600D ones a few years ago and the newer 600D ones are rubbish in the rain. Shame really.

You can always spend a bit more and get a rhino, I like the fact that the lightweights are lined, it seems to make them sit better.

I've got two Amigo LWs - think they are probably 600D because they were cheap, but neither has leaked at all and mine are out at nights. However, the pony's one is a little big round the neck and shoulders, so if it is really windy rain does seep in around the neckline. But the fabric itself doesn't leak!
